MSU Researchers Develop Flexible, Self-Healing Concrete for Roads
Dec 1, 2024, 07:32 PM
Researchers at Michigan State University have developed a new type of concrete that could revolutionize road maintenance. The innovative material, created by Michigan researchers, is described as flexible, self-heating, and self-healing, addressing common issues such as road wear and tear, cracks, and deterioration caused by water and aggressive chemicals. According to Bill Jin, an assistant professor at MSU, the new formula forms very fine cracks instead of large ones, which prevents water and chemicals from penetrating the material. This breakthrough could be a key solution to improving the durability and longevity of roads.
