Russian Parliament Ratifies Strategic Partnership with North Korea, $1.7 Billion Arms Deal with Iran

The Russian State Duma has unanimously ratified the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty with North Korea. The treaty, signed by Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang on June 19, includes provisions for mutual military assistance in the event of aggression. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko emphasized that there are no secret annexes to the agreement and described it as defensive in nature, aimed at curbing growing regional and global threats. Additionally, Russia and Iran have cemented a $1.7 billion arms deal.
