Steward Health Care to Close Two Massachusetts Hospitals Next Month Amid Bankruptcy
Jul 26, 2024, 03:54 PM
Steward Health Care, a bankrupt for-profit health care company, announced on Friday that it will close Carney Hospital in Dorchester and Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer, Massachusetts next month. The Dallas-based company has been struggling financially and declared bankruptcy earlier this year. Despite efforts to find buyers for these facilities, no successful bids were received. The closures are part of a broader crisis affecting the company's operations in Massachusetts. Governor Healey's office confirmed that bids were submitted to purchase five other hospitals owned by Steward Health Care.
