YouTube in Talks with Sony, Warner, Universal for AI Music Tool
Jun 26, 2024, 12:55 PM
YouTube is actively negotiating with major record labels, including Sony, Warner, and Universal, to license their songs for a new AI music generation tool, according to the Financial Times. This tool aims to mimic popular singers and expand the use of AI in music creation. The negotiations involve offering music labels lump sums of cash to encourage more artists to participate. Currently, only a few artists, such as Charli XCX, have signed on for an earlier test phase. YouTube's goal is to broaden this initiative to include dozens of artists.
