Dec 1, 2024, 10:09 AM
Syrian rebels, backed by Turkey and identified as the Syrian National Army, have captured the Kuweires Air Base, located 30 km east of Aleppo, from the Syrian Arab Army. The rebels have seized a significant amount of military equipment, including several L-39 Albatros trainer aircraft, 80mm S-8 unguided rockets, a helicopter, a UAV, radar/electronic warfare systems, and have taken control of abandoned T-72 tanks and BMP-1 vehicles in the town of Safira. The capture of this military airfield, also known as Kuweires Military Airport, and its assets, including fighter jets, weapons, and ammunition, marks a significant development in the ongoing Syrian conflict.
