Putin Bans Adoption to Gender Transition Countries; Fines Up to $50,800 for 'Childfree' Promotion
Nov 23, 2024, 07:04 PM
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed legislation banning the adoption of Russian children by citizens of countries that allow gender transition surgery. The new law aims to protect minors and uphold traditional family values, affecting at least 15 countries, including Australia, Canada, and several European nations. Additionally, Putin signed a law prohibiting the promotion of 'childfree ideology' in Russia. This legislation penalizes individuals and entities for promoting a conscious refusal to have children through the internet, media, movies, or advertising, with fines ranging from $4,000 for individuals, $8,000 for officials, and up to $50,800 for legal entities. For propaganda targeting minors, fines are doubled. The Russian government asserts that these measures are intended to consolidate a traditional lifestyle and counter liberal Western influences amid declining birth rates.
