Doctors and Medical Groups Urge Halt to Transgender Treatments, Hormones for Minors
Jun 8, 2024, 01:40 AM
A coalition of nearly 100 doctors and top medical groups has raised serious concerns over the use of transgender treatments for minors. The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) has issued a statement urging major medical associations to stop promoting social affirmation, puberty blockers, hormones, and other gender transition procedures for children. Dr. Jill Simons, Executive Director of ACPeds, and Dr. Andre Van Mol, Co-chair of ACPeds’ Committee on Adolescent Sexuality, emphasized the distinction between gender dysphoria as a diagnosis and transgenderism as an ideology. The coalition includes doctors, nurses, pediatricians, psychotherapists, and behavioral health clinicians who argue that current protocols may harm children and adolescents. The Daily Signal first reported on this declaration, highlighting the growing medical opposition to these treatments.
