Senate Judiciary Committee Seeks FBI Files on Trump AG Pick Gaetz's Sex Trafficking Probe
Nov 20, 2024, 05:38 PM
Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats, led by Senator Dick Durbin, have formally requested the FBI to provide the complete evidentiary file from the investigation into allegations of sex trafficking of minors against former Congressman Matt Gaetz. The request, made in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, seeks all documents, including FD-302 forms memorializing interviews, related to the closed investigation. This action comes as part of the Senate's constitutional duty to review such matters, especially in light of Gaetz's nomination as Attorney General by President Trump. All Democrats on the panel except Sen. Jon Ossoff signed the letter. The Democrats are particularly concerned about the timing, fearing that an FBI under the incoming administration might not release the files if they are not obtained now.
