Russian Bomb Threats Cause 30-Minute Evacuations at Two Georgia Polling Stations
Nov 5, 2024, 05:41 PM
On November 5, 2024, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced that five bomb threats originating from Russia were directed at two polling locations in Fulton County, causing brief evacuations lasting approximately 30 minutes. The affected sites were the Etris Community Center and Gullatt Elementary in Union City, a community with a 90% African American population. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is aware of similar bomb threats to polling locations in several states, many of which appear to originate from Russian email domains. Raffensperger stated, 'We identified the source; it was from Russia,' and emphasized that these threats are attempts to disrupt the electoral process and prevent a smooth, fair, and accurate election in Georgia.
