California Man Arrested for DUI, Found with Spider Monkey in Pink Onesie; Animal Transferred to Oakland Zoo
Jan 1, 2025, 02:50 AM
In Madera County, California, a routine traffic stop led to the arrest of Ali Mused Adel Mohamed, 27, on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of cannabis for sale. The incident occurred when California Highway Patrol officers pulled over Mohamed's 2022 Rolls-Royce Ghost for speeding on Highway 99. During the stop, officers discovered a one-month-old spider monkey wearing a pink onesie in the vehicle, which led to additional charges of possession of an exotic animal. The monkey, which is illegal to own as a pet in California, was taken into custody by Animal Control and later transferred to the Oakland Zoo for proper care. Mohamed was booked into Madera County Jail facing multiple charges.
