Drone Collision at Orlando Holiday Show Injures 7-Year-Old Boy; FAA and NTSB Investigate
Dec 23, 2024, 02:48 PM
A holiday drone show at Lake Eola Park in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday night ended abruptly when multiple drones collided and fell into the crowd around 6:45 pm EST, injuring several spectators. A 7-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck in the chest by a falling drone, requiring emergency open-heart surgery. The drones, numbering over 200 and forming a red and green holiday display, malfunctioned and began plummeting into the audience. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations into the incident. The boy's mothers reported that their son was hit in the chest, leaving an imprint of the drone and causing severe injuries. Authorities are examining the cause of the malfunction that led to the drones colliding mid-air and crashing.
