Belgium to Ban Disposable E-Cigarettes on January 1, 2025, in EU First

Belgium is set to become the first country in the European Union to ban the sale of disposable electronic cigarettes starting January 1, 2025. The decision, driven by health and environmental concerns, aims to protect young people from the allure of these devices, which are often marketed with appealing flavors such as apple, watermelon, and cola. Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke emphasized that disposable e-cigarettes pose a significant health threat by attracting teenagers to nicotine addiction. Additionally, the environmental impact of these devices, due to their plastic, battery, and circuit components, contributes to hazardous waste. Belgium's move is part of a broader national anti-tobacco plan and aligns with the EU's goal to achieve a tobacco-free generation by 2040.
