FBI: New Orleans Attacker Jabbar Acted Alone, Claimed Ties to ISIS

FBI officials announced on Thursday that the New Orleans truck attacker, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, acted alone in what has been deemed an 'act of terrorism.' Jabbar, a U.S. Army veteran, drove a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year's revelers early Wednesday on Bourbon Street, killing at least 14 people. After the attack, he engaged in a gunfight with police. Authorities stated that Jabbar claimed to have joined the Islamic State terrorist group last summer and had posted pro-ISIS videos prior to the attack. Officials also revealed that he had originally planned to kill his family. The investigation is ongoing as officials seek to understand his motives.
