US and UK Conduct Dozens of Airstrikes on Houthi Positions in Yemen in Self-defense
May 30, 2024, 09:08 PM
The United States and the United Kingdom have launched dozens of joint airstrikes against Iran-backed Houthi positions in Yemen. The strikes targeted multiple locations, including the Yemeni capital Sana'a and the coastal city of Hodeidah. According to reports, the airstrikes were conducted in response to a recent surge in attacks by the Houthi militia group on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that 13 Houthi targets were struck in self-defense, including telecommunications infrastructure, and eight uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed. Explosions were reported at the international airport in Sana'a and various other locations in western Yemen.
