VisitU.S. Allocates $200M to Combat Avian Flu in Dairy Cows, Bolsters Farm Protections

The U.S. federal government has announced a funding initiative to combat the spread of the H5N1 bird flu among dairy cows. The USDA will provide up to $28,000 per livestock farm to enhance protective measures and testing. Additionally, the government has allocated nearly $200 million towards this effort, with $98 million aimed at limiting interstate spread and $101 million designated for improved testing and surveillance by the CDC and FDA.
