Trump Vows to Protect Bitcoin, Opposes CBDC, Supports Self-Custody Rights Ahead of 2024 Elections
May 26, 2024, 01:20 AM
Former President Donald Trump has declared his strong support for cryptocurrency, stating that he is 'very positive and open-minded to cryptocurrency companies and all things related to this new and burgeoning industry.' Trump emphasized that the United States must be the leader in the field and committed to ensuring that the future of crypto and Bitcoin will be made in the USA. He also vowed to protect Bitcoin from government interference, including preventing the creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Trump made these statements at the Libertarian National Convention, where he also promised to support the right to self-custody for the nation's 50 million crypto holders and to keep Senator Elizabeth Warren and her 'goons' away from Bitcoin. Additionally, he pledged to commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht and to stop Joe Biden's 'crusade' against Bitcoin. The 2024 elections will see Trump campaigning on these crypto-friendly policies.
