Italy Demands Google Pay €1 Billion in Unpaid Taxes for 2018-2022
Jun 28, 2024, 10:39 AM
Italy is demanding Google pay €1 billion ($1.07 billion) in unpaid taxes and penalties for the period from 2018 to 2022. This follows a previous €306 million settlement in 2017. The new claim focuses on Google's digital infrastructure in Italy. Three sources with direct knowledge of the matter confirmed the demand. A Google spokesperson stated that the company complies with tax regulations in every country it operates in. The investigation into Google's tax practices was launched in 2022 by the Italian Revenue Agency. Alphabet Inc is the parent company of Google.
