Jessie Bates' Pick-Six Off Lock, With Deion Celebration, Gives Falcons 10-7 Lead
Dec 22, 2024, 06:41 PM
The New York Giants took an early lead against the Atlanta Falcons with a 2-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Drew Lock to running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the second quarter of Sunday's game. Tracy Jr., a converted wide receiver, showcased impressive footwork by making a toe-tapping catch in the back of the end zone to secure his first career receiving touchdown. The 14-play, 70-yard drive consumed over eight minutes of the clock, putting the Giants ahead 7-0 with 14:53 remaining in the second quarter after a scoreless first quarter. However, the Falcons, wearing their throwback uniforms, responded when safety Jessie Bates III intercepted a Lock pass intended for Wan'Dale Robinson and returned it 55 yards for a touchdown. Bates capitalized on Lock's late throw, reading the quarterback's eyes and making the decisive play. During his return, Bates performed a Deion Sanders high-step celebration before reaching the end zone. This was Lock's second pick-six in three starts. The interception gave Atlanta a 10-7 lead with 7:56 remaining in the first half.
