Syrian Rebels Capture Sanamayn, Advance to Within 10 Kilometers of Damascus After Seizing Daraa
Dec 7, 2024, 11:07 AM
Syrian opposition forces have captured the town of Sanamayn in southern Syria, advancing to within 20 kilometers of Damascus. Rebel commander Hassan Abdulghani announced the seizure, marking a significant advancement towards the capital. The rebels had taken control of Daraa the previous night and are now pushing northwards. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that opposition fighters are approximately 20 kilometers from Damascus, with some reports indicating they are as close as 10 kilometers. The capture of Sanamayn, a strategic town on the road to Damascus, puts additional pressure on government forces as the rebels continue their offensive.
