Dodgers Trade Gavin Lux to Reds Following Hyeseong Kim Signing; Receive Mike Sirota and No. 37 Draft Pick
Jan 6, 2025, 10:57 PM
The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded left-handed hitting infielder Gavin Lux to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for outfield prospect Mike Sirota and a Competitive Balance Round A draft pick, currently projected at No. 37 overall. The trade, first reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan, comes just days after the Dodgers signed Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim, who hit .326 with 30 stolen bases in the KBO last season. Lux, who had a fantastic second half in 2024, had been drawing trade interest from teams including the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners seeking to fill their second base positions. The Dodgers' acquisition of Kim, another left-handed hitting second baseman, altered their infield dynamics and made Lux expendable. The Reds, despite an already crowded infield, add Lux to bolster their offensive options. The Dodgers receive Sirota, an outfielder they previously drafted out of high school in 2021 before he attended Northeastern University, along with the valuable draft pick.
