Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has launched the expansion of the state's breakfast scheme to include government-aided primary schools. The initiative, originally launched in September 2022, has already benefited approximately 18.5 lakh students in over 30,000 government-run primary schools from 1st to 5th grade. With the recent expansion, an additional 2.2 lakh students in 3,995 government-aided schools will now receive free breakfast. Overall, a total of 20 lakh children across Tamil Nadu are given free breakfast. The scheme aims to provide nutritious meals to children and improve their overall well-being and academic performance.
