Scientists Discover Long-Buried Nile Branch Near Khufu’s Pyramid, Solving Pyramid Mystery
May 16, 2024, 06:00 PM
Scientists have discovered a long-buried branch of the Nile River that once flowed alongside more than 30 pyramids in Egypt, including the Giza complex and Khufu’s pyramid. This ancient waterway, which has been buried beneath farmland and desert, is believed to have been used by ancient Egyptian builders to transport massive stone blocks for the construction of the pyramids. Geological surveys revealed the newly mapped river branch, which extended for 64 kilometers, potentially solving the long-standing mystery of how these monumental structures were built more than 4,000 years ago. The discovery provided a feasible route for moving the giant stones, thus explaining the logistics behind the construction of the pyramids.
