Russia's FSB Thwarts Terrorist Attack in Yekaterinburg Using Homemade Explosive in Crowded Areas, Detains Four Teenagers
Jan 4, 2025, 12:32 PM
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted a planned terrorist attack in the city of Yekaterinburg, detaining four teenagers born between 2007 and 2008. The FSB reported that the suspects intended to use a homemade explosive device in crowded areas of the city. Two of the detained individuals are also implicated in setting a police car on fire in the Sverdlovsk region, inspired by neo-Nazi channels on Telegram. The FSB seized components for an improvised explosive device and communication devices containing bomb-making instructions from the suspects. The detained teenagers are believed to be followers of a terrorist organization banned in Russia. A criminal investigation has been launched by the Sverdlovsk region's investigators.
