NFL's First Ever TNF Flex in Week 16: Broncos-Chargers Moved to Thursday, Browns-Bengals to Sunday
Nov 22, 2024, 04:10 PM
In an unprecedented move, the NFL has exercised its first Thursday Night Football flex scheduling option. The Week 16 game between the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers has been moved from its original Sunday, December 22, date to Thursday Night Football on December 19, airing on Prime Video. Consequently, the Cleveland Browns versus Cincinnati Bengals matchup, originally slated for Thursday night, will now be played on Sunday, December 22, at 1 p.m. ET on FOX. This is the first time in NFL history that a game has been flexed into a Thursday night slot, a change that required at least 28 days' notice according to league rules. The Broncos had to approve the schedule change since it marks their second Thursday road game following a Sunday matchup, a scenario not seen since 1926. The decision reflects expectations of heightened interest in the Broncos-Chargers game, both teams being in playoff contention.
