Maryland AG Issues Cease-and-Desist to Nonprofit Over Threatening Voter Letters

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown has issued a cease-and-desist letter to the Center for Voter Information/Voter Participation Center (CVI/VPC). The nonprofit organization is accused of sending threatening letters to Maryland voters, warning them that their voting history and that of their neighbors could be publicly exposed if they do not vote in the 2024 election. The letters, described as 'voter report cards,' have been perceived by some as a form of voter intimidation. The AG's office has ordered CVI/VPC to immediately stop sending these letters to Baltimore-area voters.
