TRE-SP Forms 4-0 Majority to Revoke Carla Zambelli's Mandate for Eight Years Over 2022 Election Disinformation
Dec 14, 2024, 12:25 AM
The Tribunal Regional Eleitoral de São Paulo (TRE-SP) has formed a majority to revoke the mandate of federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) due to allegations of disseminating false information during the 2022 elections. The decision, which currently stands at a 4-0 vote against Zambelli, accuses her of abusing communication channels and political power. If the decision is upheld, Zambelli will be rendered inelegible for eight years, starting from 2022. This ruling follows a request for a review by judge Maria Cláudia Bedotti, which temporarily suspends the judgment process. The case was initiated by deputy Sâmia Bomfim, who argued that Zambelli's actions constituted electoral misconduct.
