Martin Fourcade to Receive Sixth Olympic Gold in Mass-start from 2010 Vancouver Olympics After Ustyugov's Doping Suspension
Nov 26, 2024, 12:41 PM
Martin Fourcade, the renowned French biathlete, is set to receive his sixth Olympic gold medal, following the confirmation of a doping suspension for Russian athlete Evgeny Ustyugov. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected Ustyugov's appeal, leading to the annulment of all his results from 2010 to 2014, including his gold medal in the mass-start event at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. As a result, Fourcade, who originally finished second in that event, will now be recognized as the Olympic champion. This development comes four years after Fourcade's retirement from competitive sports. He is expected to discuss this achievement during a meeting at Matignon, the official residence of the Prime Minister of France, on Wednesday.
