India Slams Pakistan's Airstrikes in Afghanistan, Calls It 'Old Practice to Blame Neighbors'
Jan 6, 2025, 08:49 AM
India has condemned Pakistan's airstrikes in Afghanistan on December 24, 2024, which resulted in the deaths of at least 46 civilians, including women and children. The airstrikes, targeting seven locations in the Bermal district of southeastern Afghanistan, were reportedly carried out in retaliation for a December 21 attack by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in South Waziristan. In an official statement, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We unequivocally condemn any attack on innocent civilians. It is an old practice of Pakistan to blame its neighbors for its own internal failures." India noted the response of an Afghan spokesperson regarding the incident, expressing concern over the loss of innocent lives and escalating border tensions. The condemnation comes 12 days after the airstrikes took place.
