Jacksonville Jaguars, City Agree on $1.25 Billion Stadium Renovation with 50/50 Cost Split, 2027 Completion
May 14, 2024, 10:20 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars and the city of Jacksonville have announced a tentative agreement for a $1.25 billion stadium renovation project. The costs will be split evenly between the team and the city, making it the most expensive investment in the city's history. Mayor Deegan emphasized the deal's importance for Jacksonville, stating it would keep the team in town for the next generation without requiring new taxes. The renovation is expected to be completed by 2027, with construction starting in 2025. During the renovation, the Jaguars will play the 2027 NFL season away from Jacksonville. The agreement includes $150 million in deferred capital for stadium maintenance and awaits approval from NFL owners at their October 15-16 meetings. Jaguars President Mark Lamping described the project as creating a Super Bowl-ready facility. FCSports has expressed interest in hosting the Jaguars at Camping World Stadium during the renovation.
