The death toll from a highway collapse in Guangdong Province, China, has risen to 48. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when a section of the Meilong Expressway collapsed, sending 23 cars down a steep slope. The collapsed section measured 17.9 meters in length and covered an area of 184.3 square meters. Rescue operations are ongoing, with the Ministry of Emergency Management actively involved. The collapse followed days of heavy rainfall, which local authorities believe contributed to the disaster. DNA of three victims remains unidentified.
