Cancer-Causing Microplastics Found in 100% of Human Testicles: Study in Toxicological Sciences
May 20, 2024, 09:25 PM
A recent study published in Toxicological Sciences has found cancer-causing microplastics in 100% of human testicles tested. The study also discovered microplastics in dog testicles. Researchers analyzed 23 human testicles and 47 pairs of dog testicles, identifying microplastics embedded in every sample. The presence of microplastics, including polyethylene and PVC, was significantly higher in human testicles, with 330 micrograms of plastic per gram of tissue, almost three times higher than in dogs. Scientists suggest that the pervasive presence of microplastics could be linked to the decades-long decline in sperm counts in men worldwide. The study highlights crumbly polystyrene as one of the worst offenders due to its tendency to fall apart and spread widely. This discovery raises concerns about the impact of microplastics on human fertility and overall health, including potential links to heart attacks and strokes.
