Boeing Charged US Air Force Nearly 8,000% Markup for $150,000 Soap Dispensers: Pentagon Watchdog
Oct 29, 2024, 06:14 PM
A new Department of Defense Inspector General report has revealed that Boeing charged the US Air Force a nearly 8,000% markup for bathroom soap dispensers for C-17 aircraft. The report found that the Air Force paid $150,000 for the dispensers, which is 80 times more than the cost of commercially available equivalents. The overcharging prompted a Defense Department audit, which concluded that the prices paid were not 'fair and reasonable.' The findings have led to a probe into the pricing of spare parts for military equipment.
