VisitIsaac Steidl Charged with 8 Infractions Linked to 23,000 Crimes on Coco Site
Jan 9, 2025, 03:04 PM
Isaac Steidl, the founder of the controversial dating site Coco, has been charged in Paris following a two-day detention. The charges stem from the site's alleged facilitation of numerous criminal activities, including sexual assaults, homophobic attacks, and the high-profile Mazan rape case. Steidl faces eight infractions, including complicity in drug trafficking, possession and distribution of child pornography, corruption of minors via the internet, aggravated pimping, criminal association, aggravated money laundering, and the illegal administration of an online platform. The crimes are alleged to have occurred between 2018 and 2024, with several of these infractions carrying a potential sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment and fines up to 7.5 million euros. The site, known as Coco.gg and registered in Guernsey, was shut down by French authorities in June 2024. It is linked to over 23,000 reported crimes affecting more than 480 victims, as centralized by 71 parquets. Steidl has been placed under judicial supervision with a 100,000 euro bail and is prohibited from leaving France.
