Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 Crashes at Muan International Airport, Killing at Least 125
Dec 29, 2024, 02:31 AM
A Jeju Air passenger plane, a Boeing 737-800 carrying 181 people, crashed while attempting to land at Muan International Airport in South Korea, resulting in at least 125 confirmed deaths. The incident occurred when the plane, en route from Bangkok, Thailand, veered off the runway and collided with a barrier, subsequently catching fire. Initial reports suggested a malfunction in the landing gear, possibly due to a bird strike, as the cause of the crash. The flight had 175 passengers, including two Thai nationals, and 6 crew members on board. Only two individuals, both crew members, were rescued from the wreckage. The majority of the passengers were South Korean. The crash is the deadliest in South Korea's aviation history, prompting a significant emergency response and an ongoing investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
