Disney Pledges $15M, Paramount $1M for Southern California Wildfire Relief
Jan 10, 2025, 11:22 PM
The Walt Disney Company has pledged $15 million to support relief and rebuilding efforts in response to the ongoing wildfires in Southern California. The funds will assist organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Disney CEO Bob Iger emphasized the company's commitment to aiding the community and its employees during this crisis. Paramount has also donated $1 million and is offering temporary housing and cash grants to displaced employees. The wildfires, which have burned over 20,000 acres in Pacific Palisades and Malibu and more than 13,000 acres in Altadena, have led to widespread destruction, with thousands of structures lost and over 150,000 residents under evacuation orders. At least 10 fatalities have been reported, and the death toll is expected to rise. The entertainment industry has also been affected, with event cancellations and production suspensions.
