16 Belgians, Canadians Targeted in Progressive China-Linked Hacking
Apr 29, 2024, 06:10 PM
A group of Belgian politicians, including two Members of the European Parliament, Hilde Vautmans and Guy Verhofstadt, were targeted in a hacking campaign linked to China, reported by Antoaneta Roussi. Vautmans, who is the lead MEP on China relations, and others have been vocal about their stance on China. In Canada, several parliamentarians, including both Liberal and Conservative MPs, expressed concerns over the lack of notification from the Canadian government about being targets of similar Beijing-linked hacking efforts, highlighting the progressive nature of the attack. Conservative MP Garnett Genuis noted that 16 Canadians were targeted.
