Oct 11, 2024, 06:30 AM
China has responded to the terrorist attack on October 6 in Karachi, Pakistan, which targeted a convoy at the Port Qasim coal-fired power plant, resulting in the deaths of two Chinese nationals and injuries to others. In response, China has sent an inter-agency working group to Pakistan to handle the aftermath and to ensure the protection of Chinese personnel. The attack has drawn condemnation from various entities, including the Saudi Arabian embassy in Pakistan. Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visited the Chinese Embassy on October 10 to offer condolences. The incident has also cast a shadow over the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad on October 15 and 16. A farewell ceremony was held at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi for the deceased Chinese nationals. The Chinese security agency has vowed to boost intelligence sharing with Pakistan to prevent future attacks.
