China Selects 10 New Astronauts, Including First from Hong Kong SAR and Macau

China's human spaceflight agency has announced the selection of 10 new astronauts for its fourth astronaut batch recruitment. This group includes eight space pilots and two payload specialists, with one specialist each from Hong Kong SAR and Macau. This marks the first time astronauts from these regions have been selected. The China Manned Space Agency stated that these candidates will undergo training in preparation for the country's goal of achieving a manned lunar landing by 2030. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, expressed pride and encouragement over the selection of Hong Kong’s first astronaut as part of the astronaut batch.
