Chicago White Sox Hire Will Venable as New Manager After 121-Loss Season
Oct 30, 2024, 04:40 AM
The Chicago White Sox have hired Will Venable as their new manager. Venable, who turned 42 today, has extensive coaching experience, having served as the associate manager of the Texas Rangers and held coaching positions with the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox. He takes over a team that set a modern MLB record with 121 losses last season. Venable's hiring follows a competitive managerial search that included Phil Nevin and Craig Albernaz. The White Sox have not officially commented on the hiring, but sources confirm Venable will be the 44th manager in franchise history. Venable has six years of coaching experience and will be tasked with rejuvenating the 41-121 team. The hiring decision was made by Chris Getz.
