Jun 22, 2024, 11:22 PM
Charlie Condon, a standout player for the University of Georgia's baseball team, has won the prestigious Golden Spikes Award. This accolade is awarded annually to the top amateur baseball player in the United States. Condon's impressive season also earned him the title of Baseball America's Player of the Year. Additionally, Condon and his teammate Corey Collins were named to Baseball America's All-America teams. Notably, Condon is the first player in Georgia baseball history to receive the Golden Spikes Award. His performance this season was exceptional, with only Kris Bryant achieving a higher OPS+ among past winners in the last 20 years. Arkansas' Hagen Smith and Oregon State's Travis Bazzana were also finalists for the Golden Spikes Award.
