At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officer opened fire on suspects attempting to break into vehicles near the Washington, D.C., residence of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, located in the 2900 block of Stephenson Place NW. The suspects fled the scene uninjured in their vehicle, and no one was harmed during the incident. Described by senior law enforcement officials as an 'agent-involved shooting,' the event is under investigation. A statement from the Secret Service is forthcoming. Secretary Yellen was confirmed safe and was not threatened during the event.
