21-Year-Old Turkish National Accused of Raping Teen in New York

A Turkish national, Sakir Akkan, a 21-year-old who entered the United States illegally last year, has been accused of raping a 15-year-old runaway teen in Albany, New York. Akkan allegedly forced the girl into his vehicle with a metal pipe and committed the crime on May 14. He was previously apprehended by Border Patrol agents after crossing from Mexico into California but was later released by DHS. Local police did not notify the public about the incident immediately.
