Justice Clarence Thomas Discloses Luxury Trips, $4 Million in Gifts Paid by Billionaire Harlan Crow
Jun 7, 2024, 04:23 PM
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has acknowledged in a new financial disclosure that he took two luxury trips in 2019, paid for by Texas billionaire and GOP donor Harlan Crow. These trips, to an Indonesian island and a secretive all-male club in Northern California, were previously reported by ProPublica but were not included in Thomas's initial disclosures. Thomas has now amended his 2019 report to reflect these trips, stating that they were 'inadvertently omitted' at the time of filing. Additionally, a report by FixTheCourt reveals that Thomas has received approximately $4 million in gifts over the past 20 years, a figure significantly higher than those received by other justices. Thomas reportedly received 47% of all known gifts given to Supreme Court justices, totaling well over $5.87 million. This disclosure has raised concerns about the ethics and transparency of the Supreme Court justices.
