Biden Admin Sanctions 21 Venezuelan Officials Four Months After Election Fraud
Nov 27, 2024, 03:56 PM
The United States, under the Biden administration, has imposed sanctions on 21 Venezuelan officials, including military, police, and ministers, for their alleged involvement in efforts to defy the results of the July 28 presidential election. The sanctions come four months after the election, which both the Venezuelan opposition and Washington claim was stolen by President Nicolas Maduro. These officials are accused of supporting Maduro's attempts to repress civil society and to fraudulently declare himself the winner, ignoring the will of the majority of Venezuelan voters. The list of sanctioned individuals includes members of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), National Police (PNB), Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN), General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM), and notably, the daughter of Diosdado Cabello.
