Iran-Backed Militias Attack U.S. Forces at Al-Tanf and Deir ez-Zor Bases in Syria
Oct 27, 2024, 08:06 PM
Iran-backed militias have launched multiple attacks on U.S. forces stationed in Syria. In the past 15 days, there have been 10 attacks on U.S. troops in eastern Syria, with 6 of them facilitated by the Assad regime's military, leading to daily retaliatory U.S. artillery strikes. Recently, Iranian-backed militias claimed responsibility for an attack targeting the Al-Tanf military base in southern Syria, near the Jordanian and Iraqi borders, which also hosts Free Syrian Army troops. Additionally, there were reports of attacks on the U.S. base at the Al-Omar oil field east of Deir ez-Zor, Syria, where an explosion was reported near the U.S.-led coalition forces' base, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
