US Infant Mortality Rose 7% After Dobbs Decision, Study Finds
Oct 21, 2024, 07:46 PM
New research indicates that infant mortality rates in the United States increased significantly following the Supreme Court's Dobbs decision, which revoked the federal right to an abortion. The study found a 7% overall rise in infant deaths and a 10% increase among infants with genetic and chromosomal disorders. The majority of the additional deaths were attributed to congenital anomalies. No months post-Dobbs showed a decrease in infant mortality rates. In the 1 1/2 years following the decision, hundreds more infants died than expected.
