33 Dead, Over 70 Hospitalized After Consuming Illicit Liquor in Karunapuram, Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi

A tragic incident has occurred in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi district, where at least 33 people have died, and over 70 have been hospitalized after consuming illicit liquor. The incident has prompted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to order a CB-CID inquiry and take action against officials who failed to prevent the tragedy. District Collector MS Prashanth confirmed the death toll and stated that several people are still undergoing treatment. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the sale of the spurious liquor. The state government has also transferred District Collector Sravankumar Jatavath and appointed MS Prashanth as the new Collector for Kallakurichi district. The spurious liquor was reportedly consumed in Karunapuram. Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai has called for the resignation of the State Minister for Prohibition and Excise.
