Dec 13, 2024, 02:00 AM
A small plane crashed on Interstate-684 in Westchester County, New York, on Thursday night, resulting in one fatality and one person in critical condition. The TECNAM P2008 aircraft, which had departed from Linden, New Jersey, experienced an engine issue before crashing in the median of the highway near Exit 2, close to Westchester County Airport. The crash caused the plane to split in half at the fuselage, striking three vehicles on the road. The incident led to the closure of both northbound and southbound lanes of I-684, with significant traffic delays reported. Local detours were put in place, and drivers were advised to avoid the area. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and New York State Police are investigating the crash.
