ByteDance Partners with Broadcom ($AVGO) to Develop Advanced AI Chip, Sources Say

China's ByteDance is collaborating with US chip designer Broadcom to develop an advanced AI processor, sources say. This partnership aims to secure a sufficient supply of high-end chips for ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, amid ongoing US-Sino tensions. The AI chip, which will comply with US chip restrictions on China, is expected to be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) using 5nm technology. Manufacturing of the chip is not expected to start this year. Broadcom is listed under the ticker $AVGO.
