Bittensor Halts Blockchain After $8M, 32,000 TAO Security Breach, 16% Drop
Jul 3, 2024, 05:59 AM
Bittensor, a decentralized artificial intelligence project, has temporarily halted its blockchain following a suspected security breach affecting multiple user wallets. The attack, identified by on-chain analyst ZachXBT, involved leaked private keys and resulted in the theft of $8 million worth of TAO tokens, equivalent to 32,000 TAO. The Bittensor team has suspended the network for 24 hours to investigate the breach. The incident has caused the price of TAO tokens to drop by 16% to a six-month low of $227. The Tao Community Discord administrator confirmed that the TAO Foundation is investigating the attacks on multiple Bittensor wallets. The chain has been put in 'safe mode' for at least 24 hours.
